Ben started his career in Real Estate in 2016 working as an intern for a major Washington D.C.-area developer. He graduated from the University of British Columbia earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and completed a Master of Science in City Planning and Real Estate Development from the University of Glasgow in 2019. Ben has also been a member of the American Institute of Planners (AICP) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) since 2023.
Before joining Gillis Real Estate, Ben’s career has had him working on both the consultant and developer sides of the industry starting as a consultant at Vancouver-based MXD Development Strategists, a Development Coordinator at Vancouver-based developer Bosa Properties and more recently for Kimley-Horn, leading entitlements, market-studies and development opportunities analyses for clients nationwide.
His creativity, tenacity and his attention to detail help drive projects to be well-designed, profitable and delivered efficiently and on-schedule. Ben is passionate about solving complex entitlement challenges, has a strong financial acumen to ensure projects are profitable and has an eye for design to help deliver projects that are well-designed both for the end-user and for the communities they are in.
Ben is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia and grew up hopping around the United States and Canada, in places such as Portland, Oregon, Dallas, Texas and Washington, DC, but has called Seattle home since 2022. In addition to the passion he brings to real estate, he is a car enthusiast and enjoys travelling, golfing, and enjoying the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
